I didn't mean to get political, trust me. It's Sire's (and YOUR) fault I've been listening to so much System of a Down lately. The lyric has been hanging out in my brain for months. And then the news.

I didn't want to get too political, hence the short-n-sweet post. I'd expect more for YOU, Mr. Junior Democrat--but all you blog about is movies, as if ANYONE sees movies anymore.

Editor's note: substitute "anyone" for "Mace."

Man, I love war songs – both pro-war and anti-war. So many great anti-war songs over the years from CSN&Y, Lennon, Sabbath, Metallica, Megadeth, System, etc. I think Ozzy sang it the most directly:

    Politicians hide themselves away
    They only started the war
Why should they go out to fight?
They leave that role to poor
    -“War Pigs”, Black Sabbath

Those violent, war-mongering songs also get me going though. Thank you Slayer, Morbid Angel, Marduk, and the rest.

Danecek would probably take my nutz if he heard me plugging "mainstream" music, Zin, but if you haven't yet heard System of a Down's two latest albums, Hypnotize/Mezmerize, you need to. They are two parts war crit to one part social crit. They even employ a shit ton of metals--a huge range of vox and lots of blast beats (BLAST BEATS!).

    Thanks Mace.
I have the singles from the first of the two new System albums on my pod.
    Cool. I'll check them out.
I got gun shy about wandering back into the world of mainstream metal after I loved A Perfect Circle's 13th Step and was horrified by the terrible faux-political remix follow-up b.s.

Isn't Zinnel leading our defensive core in +/-? Nobody gets by the Zinnel/Grant combo. And sorry, BZ, but no one tops Roggles McDogglesBee at offensive defensemen prowess. None are faster, more agile, prettier. Actually, if it weren't for cheats, Roggles would get only one goal each season; and if it weren't for my insistence to cheat with Roggles, much to Sire's annoyance, our big hairy man would go pointless.

What the hell are you talking about?
Oh, I think I remember you telling me that you made your video game hockey team from your friends (like you did back in the day with the infamous black metal team. Wasn't Akerfeldt the goaly?).

Regarding +/-: Thank you for giving my pixilated representation the qualities that are important to me - defensive prowess and a team-first mindset. As I have stated before, +/- is the greatest individual stat in sports. It really tells how an individual affects the outcome of the team. So screw you and others who find it worthless and even seek to have it abolished.

+/- has always been my favorite stat too. But try telling that to Pat about his player who, like yours, is a stay at home defensemen who destroys Bertuzzis and slashes Lindroses and trips (sorry, Sire) Kariyas. All he wants is points but he's got at least a +67 rating. Good thing he's speedy and I can bring him in all the way from our red line and do my shorthanded, backhanding jukez.
